Toilets - A Little Info On Different Types of Toilets...
Toilets (also known as a posh word... 'W.C') is a important part of the bathroom! Let's take a look at the different types of toilets that are available to buy. Take a read below to find out the most suitable toilet for you!
Close Coupled Toilets
A close coupled toilet is a toilet that has its cistern attached directly to the pan and sits against the back wall. A very common toilet in the UK. The flush is operated by a push button, as single or dual flush.
The cistern is fed by a pipe at the bottom. The lid on top of the cistern can be removed for access inside, for any maintenance. Many models can be a comfort height toilet, rimless or compact (space saving projection)
Open Back Toilets - there is a space at the back of the pan -ideal if your toilet waste (soil pipe) turns left or right.
Fully Ceramic Toilets - also known as 'back to wall close coupled toilets' the back of the pan sites against the wall with no gap - this works with toilet wastes that go straight out from the rear, without turning.
Back To Wall Toilets
Back to wall toilets are installed with a built in cistern normally installed inside a wall or on the front of it, that is boxed in & tiled. Access is given with a flush plate.
Back to wall toilets are used with fitted furniture or BTW units, with a cistern hidden inside and again the flush operated by a 'push button' or 'flush plate'.
Wall Hung Toilets
Wall Hung toilets (also known as wall mounted toilets) float off the floor - creating a great illusion space of space and they are much easier to mop under! These type of toilets are installed with a built in cistern and frame - normally installed inside a stud wall or attached to the front, which is then boxed in & tiled. Access is given with a flush plate.
Rimless Toilets
Rimless toilets are a popular choice. This toilet doesn't have a 'rim 'under the front edge of the toilet pan, making it so much easier to clean!
With a flush, the water enters the pan from the back and circulates at a fast rate clearing waste quickly. A great design!
Comfort Height Toilets
Comfort height toilets are a higher toilet pan, each model varies, but normally around 450mm from the floor to the top of the pan.
These toilets are popular with many of our customers, including those who are taller, prefer a more upright sitting position or those with mobility issues can benefit using this type of toilet.
Comfort toilets cna be a back to wall (as pictured) or as a close coupled toilet (see above)
